As a therapist I draw not only on my education, but also on my life experiences as a woman, a daughter, a sister, a wife, and a mother. I am by nature interested in the world around me and continue to educate myself both formally and informally. In 1993, I began practicing Vipassana (Insight) Meditation, a simple form of sitting/walking meditation. This continues to support me personally and has informed my work over the years.
I am trained in Attachment Theory and Analytic Object Relations (the development of the self within the context of relationship). I am influenced by Jung's work with the unconscious, both for the sake of art and for psychological health and individuation. With couples and families, I use John Gottman's work. With individuals, I use MBCT, a mindfulness-based approach to rational-emotive cognitive therapy.
My approach is practical. I believe balance is health. I also believe in the subtle drive toward health inherent in each of us.
